I caught the production of this short play on Gather by the Ghostlight. A lovely short piece. Nothing is as it seems, or what we assume and Minigan uses this to perfect advantage to add tension to the story. But really there is only love

What a beautiful short play! John Minigan plays are always more than they first appear, and I loved watching the story unfold, collecting subtle bits of exposition to piece together the back story of how these two women each ended up at the lagoon. There's so much richness and detail even though the play is only ten minutes long. What a lovely piece.

I listened to this on Gather by the Ghost Light and it's just lovely. A sweet moment between two complex people, it's easy to stage and gives you good stuff to work with. Check it out!

Although her hurt and frustration are real, I don't think Ellie was ever a real danger to the swans. The re-emergence of the bond between Ellie and Violet is tenderly wrought. And maybe swans are good role models after all.

I recently heard an excellent production of this play by Gather by the Ghost Light.
This is a sweet, tender play, where the relationship between the two characters is reflected in the love and partnership of the two female swans (a beautiful, real story in itself). The connection here is inspired, another great play by Minigan.
Oh...and no swans were injured in the making of this play, thankfully!

This play is really not about swans...well they are in it, but the real themes are about love and friendship and rescue. A perfect balance of humor and heart - this play has some great laugh-out-loud moments, and a deep, meaningful relationship at its core. Lovely writing, and deserves to be added to any program of ten minute plays!

It's a beautiful thing to watch the themes dance in this play — swans, life mates, self-knowledge, heartbreak, and love all swirl together with Boston dark humor and a good dose of tossed rocks. Have a great time with this piece!

This is a wonderful, carefully written, and subtle play. The symbolic meaning of the swans shifts in such nuanced ways, and Minigan handles these shifts with such skill and craftsmanship. The dialogue is terrific and the the play handles issues like insecurity, identity, and sexual awareness with genuine tenderness. Bravo!
